The episcopal city of Albi, 25 min away

Albi UNESCO

The Episcopal City of Albi has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2010. It stands out for its unique brick architecture.

The Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile,a masterpiece of Meridional Gothic architecture, impresses with its defensive structure and interior decoration. It is 113 m long and its bell tower, reached by 365 steps, rises to a height of 78 m. It took 14 million bricks to build. Its monumental organ has 3549 pipes.

The Palais de la Berbie,a 13th-century fortress, symbolizes the power of the bishops of Albi. Over the centuries, it has been transformed into a residence. Classified as a historic monument in 1862, the Palais épiscopal is one of the best preserved in France. It is home to the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum which houses the world's largest public collection of works by the famous Albigensian painter.

Beyond these two monuments, picturesque neighborhoods such as Le Castelviel, Le Castelnau and the Berges du Tarn invite you to take a stroll.

Albi is also famous for its Lapérouse museum, dedicated to the explorer Jean-François Galaup de Lapérouse.

Cordes and the albigensian bastides

In Bastides country, let yourself be enchanted by the timeless charms of Cordes sur Ciel, Réalmont, Castelnau de Montmiral, Puycelsi and Lisle-sur-Tarn. These medieval jewels, a veritable canvas of contrasts between light and shade, invite you on endless escapades to discover some of the most beautiful villages in France.

Cordes sur ciel – 30 min

Cordes sur ciel, Tarn

One of the 8 most beautiful perched villages in France.
Stroll the narrow streets of this medieval village, created in 1222 by the Count of Toulouse!
“We travel for years without really knowing what we're looking for, we wander in the noise, entangled in desires or repentances, and we suddenly arrive in one of those two or three places that await each of us in this world. The traveler who, from the terrace of Cordes, looks out over the summer night, knows that he need go no further, and that, if he wishes, the beauty here, day after day, will remove him from all solitude.” Albert Camus

Penne – 30 min

Penne Tarn, tourisme les hauts de Jeanvert

Perched on a rocky spur overlooking the Aveyron valley, around the remains of the castle, the village has retained all the mystery of its medieval past.

Our garden

Parc les hauts de Jeanvert, Gaillac

We owe the current appearance of our garden to husband and wife Mike and Cheryl Ashburn & Mike and Mandy Hibbert (see “Tribute” in the “Our History” section). When they arrived in 1999, the 3-acre garden had very few trees, including the 70-year-old almond tree that stands opposite the Magnolia terrace.

The creators of this space therefore imagined :

- an oak grove of almost 2 acres, including a few coniferous trees

- an orchard,at the entrance to the estate, which will be extended to provide a nourishing space for our visitors

- a vegetable garden.

Les jardins, les hauts de Jeanvert, tourisme Gaillac
After a complete clearing of undergrowth at the end of winter, we leave nature to evolve freely until the following year. This allows biodiversity to express itself fully: meadows, flower beds and hedges bloom, butterflies and bees abound and birds sing.
To facilitate this observation, we use our lawnmowers to lay out a number of footpaths, making it easier to explore these areas.

In the garden, a number of relaxation areas have been set up with hammocks, deckchairs, sofas, tables and chairs, allowing everyone to relax, read, contemplate nature or share an open-air aperitif.
